Summer in the Black Forest

A well-signposted network of trails takes adventurers of all ages to the nicest areas of the Feldberg. Those who want to burn off some energy will find on the Feldberg a wide range of designated Nordic walking routes and varied cycle trails for mountain bikes and e-bikes.

The Feldberg health resort is one of the largest and oldest natural conservation areas in Baden-Wuerttemberg with the “Feldsee” tarn lake. Since 1989, the natural conservation area of Feldberg has been managed by a Black Forest ranger. In 2001, management was handed over to the Southern Black Forest nature conservation centre located in the Haus der Natur.

The Feldsee

The 97,500 m² lake with a depth of up to 32 m and was created by glaciers in the last ice age. The largest tarn lake in the Black Forest is surrounded on three sides by up to 300 m high steep faces and has a diameter of between 350 and 370 metres. Hikers are attracted by the "Feldberg-Steig" premium hiking trail on the "roof of the Black Forest". Families will enjoy the “gnome trail in the wood grouse forest”.

A good starting point to the loveliest tours through the elevated hiking area is the mountain station of the Feldberg cable car at 1,450 metres. From the viewing platform on the eleventh floor of the Feldberg tower, you can enjoy fantastic views over the summits as far as the Vosges and even the Alps. You can rest and regain your strength while enjoying some food in the numerous mountain chalets.

The Schluchsee lies in the heart of the Hochschwarzwald at a height of 930 m above sea level. It has a length of 7.5 km and a maximum width of 1.5 km. With a water surface of 5.14 km² and a depth of 62 m, the Schluchsee is the largest lake in the Black Forest and also the biggest lake in Baden-Wuerttemberg.

The Schluchsee is the water sports centre in the Black Forest and has been one of the cleanest swimming lakes in Germany for years. The beautiful landscape around the lake offers wonderful hiking and bike tours.

The Titisee is a lake in the southern Black Forest in Baden-Wuerttemberg. It covers an area of 1.07 km² and has an average depth of 20 m.

In the heart of the Todtnau mountain world in the Hochschwarzwald, between the holiday destinations of Todtnauberg and Aftersteg, are the Todtnau Waterfalls. With a drop height of 97 m, they are the highest natural waterfalls in Baden-Wuerttemberg and water pours breathtakingly into the depths below.

Both activities can be used on one day, provided that the operation allows it, or you can use 1 hour each on 2 different days

Free travel on bus & trains with the free KONUS Card

The Black Forest holiday region is enormous and the landscape is very versatile.

You’ll receive the KONUS Card when you arrive and can use it to travel for free on buses and trains between Pforzheim and Basel as well as Karlsruhe and Waldshut. So you can easily get to your hike, excursion destination or shopping trip.
